MIMIC THE ACTS OF GOD
GSWMI Reflections, Prepared by GSW for GSWMI platforms
MIMIC THE ACTS AND CHARACTER OF GOD
Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy path (Psalms 25:4).
Many were brought up under a system where out of ignorance, God was portrayed as a despot and a destroyer. They were taught in school that all forms of evil including the earthquakes, tornadoes, floods, tsunamis, and famines that have ravaged lives, cities and even nations are “the acts of God.” But those are not the acts of God. The Bible says “Every good and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning” (James 1:17). This simply lets us know that whatever is not good and helpful couldn’t be from God, for He’s a good God, and His gifts and acts are good all the time.
Sweet water and bitter water don’t flow from the same fountain (James 3:11).
Therefore God, who is goodness personified, cannot be responsible for the sufferings, destructions and disasters that take place in the world. The Bible shows us that the real destroyer is satan. He’s the evil one responsible for the terrible disasters and catastrophes that steal people’s health, joy, money or peace.
But thanks be unto God, the world is not at the mercy of satan and his filthy acts of destruction! God has given us the power to subdue, tame, and forbid satan from carrying out his manoeuvring and manipulative acts of wickedness around us: “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you” (Luke 10:19).
Many believers because of this erroneous understanding of God are mimicking this same reality
You will see a Christian with the anointing of the Holy Ghost, who is healing the sick and doing wonders for the kingdom of God exhibiting shameful behaviours that are not in the character of God.
A believer whose tongue is similar to that of a snake, forklike and divisive. A believer full of mischief, manipulations and discord.
Such a believer is more similar to the devil than God because the devil is also anointed and can do miracles, signs and wonders
The one thing the devil cannot do consistently is BE the light!
The Bible says angels of darkness can pretend or disguise to be angels of light but they are not and over time the garb of pretense has to be discarded
Watch your life and your attitude
How do you speak?
What do you say?
Who do you say it to?
What manner of lies and untruths are you spreading within the body you have been tasked to build up and edify?
To truly be as God is, a believer must reflect the fullness of the character of God?
Do you have a reputation for gossip? Eschew it, make your confessions and consciously drop that unwholesome character
Integrity means being whole! Undivided, unsplittable, constant and consistent.
God has integrity
You must be like God and grow integrity for Godlikeness!
When people begin to mention your name as the source of unrest, gossip, backbiting, backstabbing, rumor-mongering, craftiness, envy
and evil communication within the body of Christ, it ruins your testimony and jeopardises your position in the fold.
Do not be a rubble rouser or a trouble maker or a mischief monger within the body of Christ, only dogs play this role
The sheep of His fold take after Him and becomes as He is
Observe that it’s God who gave us, His children power over all the works of the enemy. Hence, He couldn’t possibly be the one responsible for the works He gave us power to forestall.
Acts 10:38 lets us in on the kind of works or acts that can be ascribed to God: “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.” The devil is the one responsible for the evil and oppression in the world today; they’re his works. But the Bible says in 1 John 3:8: “For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.”
Every time you hear, see or read about a supernatural intervention in human affairs that defies conventional or natural sequence, resulting in the preservation of life and the general good of humanity, that is a miracle; and that is an act of God. God loves people and it’s His pleasure to see them healthy, prosperous and normal. You can trust Him even now to bring His unlimited power to bear on your situation for you to receive a miracle.
MINISTER GRACE WITH YOUR WORDS
Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers (Ephesians 4:29).
Corrupt communication is communication that’s worthless and unsavoury; unworthy of the Lord. Never allow foul or polluting language, evil, unwholesome talk find vent through you. I made up my mind a long time ago to be gracious and graceful in my communication, to speak the right words only.
The Bible says sweet and bitter waters don’t come out of the same fountain (James 3:11). Being born again, you’re anointed to bless. Your words should, and must lift and inspire others, not beat them down. Make the decision that only the right words will come out of your mouth, even when you seem to be making a joke. Speak words that are consistent with your nature of righteousness.
The most effective way to keep your communication gracious at all times is filling your heart and mind with the Word, for out of that abundance, you’ll speak. Give greater attention to the Word, and when the need arises, at the time of crisis and tests, only words of wisdom, solution, blessing and love will come forth from you.
The Bible says, “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good…for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh” (Luke 6:45). If there’s no foolishness, hatred, bitterness, anger or pride in you, they won’t come out of your mouth.
Be gracious in your communication. People should enjoy being around you and listening to you, because of your invigorating words of wisdom and grace.
What kind of words come out of you and where do you get them from? Why do you say the things you say? These are critical questions for your heart. As a Christian, you ought to always examine your life, especially with respect to your words, because your words locate you; they reveal your character. If a man’s words are hurtful and biting, then that’s who he is inside. But if your words are gracious, kind, uplifting and heart-lifting, that’s the character of your personality. You’re the character of your words.
Jesus said in Matthew 12:35, “A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.” As a Christian, you’ve got good treasures within you by reason of your divine nature in Christ. There’s excellence in your spirit. So when you speak, it should be out of that abundance.
Jesus also said, “He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water” (John 7:38). He was speaking of the Holy Spirit, which those who believe in Him would receive (John 7:39). Thus, the presence of the Holy Spirit in your life means you’re enabled to let out rivers of living water which come forth in words; divine words!
This means if a Christian speaks foul, brash or bitter words, he’s exuding an attribute that isn’t consistent with his true nature. James 3:11 tells us that fresh water and bitter water don’t issue from the same fountain. Yours is the fresh water from God’s fountain inside you. You don’t have a mix. You have only goodness and blessings within you, which are revealed each time you speak.
Your speech is the true measure of your maturity as a Christian: “…And if anyone does not offend in speech [never says the wrong things], he is a fully developed character and a perfect man…” (James 3:2 AMPC). Through your words, bring healing and life to others; bring them hope, strength and courage. Chart your course in victory, from glory to glory with your wholesome, faith-filled words.
CONFESSION
Through my wholesome, faith-filled words, I chart my course in victory, from glory to glory. By the power of the Holy Spirit, I speak life and wisdom all the time. I live in divine health, supernatural abundance and in continual success and prosperity
My words are filled with grace, and edify my hearers, producing in them the righteousness of God. From the abundance of my heart, I speak life, salvation, health, prosperity and blessings only, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
