Christ: Our Berachah
February 2013 (Somewhere in the Outskirts of Lagos)
We met at the venue of an Interview
She was aiming to get a job as a TV presenter or producer
I was aiming to get a job at the same company as an assistant
editor or Senior Producer
I didn’t apply for the job
I just got a text message on my phone in which i was invited
to be a part of the aptitude test being conducted towards
getting the job
I was underemployed at the time
She was a believer, a preacher of the gospel
Her father was a reverend but the gospel seems more like a
fairy tale than a glorious reality
She was baptized in the Holy Ghost and was trying very hard
to live a holy life
It was how she was raised, she didn’t depart from it
We sat for the interview and was told the compnay will
get back to us
She approached me, asking if i could give her a lift to
back to the main road
I said it was no problem
As we drove away from the venue, she began to talk to me
about Jesus
It was natural for her as well as defensive
I could sense that
One of those ladies who had come to wear the gospel as a
defense against unwanted attention
I knew she would never have asked for the lift if the
venue was in town
It was more of a necessity
She would have walked three kilometers to the main road or
waited at the venue for a bike that would take her to the
main road at a very expensive price
It was a no brainer riding with me but then the world is
replete with all sorts of men
She just wanted to make it clear from the outset that she
belonged to Jesus and wouldn’t want me to make any move
I got the message
I let her speak
Her voice filled the car with the fragrance of Christ
When she was done, I asked her if she had a relationship
with the Holy Spirit
She said she does
I said “Why do I perceive that you are going through many
troubles at this time?”
She began to cry
It was almost as if my words were a pin to a balloon
She said “Sir, I am sorry i am like this but i didn’t know
i was wearing my troubles on my sleeve”
I told her she wasn’t and went on to tell her some other
things that couldn’t have been known except by the power
of the Holy Spirit
She said “You must be a prophet sir”
I kept quiet
She began to talk
Her mother was a diabetic who had almost gone blind as a
result of the condition, yet she was a vibrant Christian.
An evangelist!
Her father was a Reverend with a particular church but he
was suffering from depression and plagued by mental health issues
Her older brother had been committed to a neuropsychiatric
hospital for several years, he was battling a condition
that came upon him suddenly
Her older sister was once vibrant in Christ but had gone off
to be tje third wife of an unbeliever in Abuja where she was
posted for NYSC
(This happened seven years before we were having this discussion)
Her immediate younger sister had gotten pregnant out of wedlock
out of the desperation to marry her way into wealth but it
turned out that the guy she was sleeping with was into fraud
and got himself arrested and jailed four months into the
pregnancy
It was a very sensitive issue as her sister kept insisting
the guy was set up by the enemy despite all the obvious
evidence to the contrary
She had been searching for a job for three years and despite
all the preaching and holy lifestyle, it had not gotten better
I pitied her
She was one of those believers lost in the valley of Tekoa
She had not come to know the gospel
She was preaching a Christ with whom she had never had an
encounter
I told her I know the solution to all her troubles
She smiled and said “What?”
I said “You need an encounter with Christ”
She started laughing
She felt she already knew all about Christ
What else was there to know?
By this time, we were almost at the bus stop where she would
have to alight
I parked and asked her to pray with me
We joined hands and I asked the Holy Spirit to stir on her
insides and burst forth from her belly
I placed a demand on the Holy Spirit in her members to be
stirred and to gain ascendancy over her reality
When we were done, she said Thank you and alighted
I drove home thanking God
I got another job a few days later and had to resume immediately
She got a job at the venue where we had our interview together
and was worried when she didn’t see me at the orientation/training
of the new employees in that company
She was employed as a member of the Human Resources Team
As a member of the HR team, she had access to the forms and
staff files
She was able to locate my phone number
She called and asked that we meet
I drove down to meet with her
She said a lot of strange things started happening to her from
the day we prayed
She suddenly started knowing things and getting strong impressions
in her spirit on what to do
She said she got home, laid hands on her mother and rebuked the sickness
She said she did the same thing to her father
She gave the two of them till the next morning to get back on their feet
She said she prayed in tongues for hours afterward, she felt restless
in he spirit and couldn’t sit still
The next morning she started conducting a prayer service in her father’s
church which was on the verge of shutting down
There were so many miracles that by the third day, the church was
filled to the brim
She said she saw visions of her future, her wedding day and her
first child
She said a whole lot of things
Then she asked me what I did to her
I told her I shifted her reality from that of a stranger to that of an
intitiate
I moved her from Tekoa to Berachah
It was the same location but time and event changed the realities
experienced there
Those who came before Jehoshaphat never new a valley of Berachah, all
they knew was the valley of Tekoa
The same applies to those who came to know Christ without the
consciousness of His spirit
They knew religion and excuses without any result
I came to know Christ as a Place and a person, He was revealed to me as
the riddance to all sorrows and the pathway to all blessings
I can never be at a disadvantage in this life
I am ruling and reigning from eternity to eternity in Him
The story of the valley of Berachah was not about the troubles Jehoshaphat
faced or the crazy faith that led to musicians heading for battle wielding
praise as a weapon
The church has preached this for years but they were looking at things
from a carnal perspective
The story of Berachah was the story of one man
The one man who could hear from God and guide the nation in the direction
of faith through divine instruction
That man was responsible for Tekoa turning to Berachah
His name was Jahaziel son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of
Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite and descendant of Asaph
Just like Jesus, the author and finisher of my faith, Jahaziel had an
advantage called “The Spirit of the Lord”
2 Chronicles 20 2:14 Then the Spirit of the Lord came on Jahaziel son of
Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a
Levite and descendant of Asaph, as he stood in the assembly.
15 He said: “Listen, King Jehoshaphat and all who live in Judah and Jerusalem!
This is what the Lord says to you: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because
of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.
16 Tomorrow march down against them. They will be climbing up by the
Pass of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the gorge in the
Desert of Jeruel. 17 You will not have to fight this battle. Take up
your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you,
Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to
face them tomorrow, and the Lord will be with you.’”
18 Jehoshaphat bowed down with his face to the ground, and all the people of
Judah and Jerusalem fell down in worship before the Lord.
19 Then some Levites from the Kohathites and Korahites stood up and
praised the Lord, the God of Israel, with a very loud voice.
Imagine that Jahaziel got too scared to deliver the message and he shut
his mouth the way many believers do nowadays in the face of logic?
Does it matter what the origin of Covid-19 was or that there was a lot
of conspiracies flying everywhere? Let’s just do as we are told and
survive this period…
Hmmm…
What is your guts saying?
What do you feel in your heart?
Use your common sense!
Hmmm…
No King will take a choir to battle except he was convinced that the
Spirit of the Lord was indeed upon the vessel that gave the instruction
If however, the instruction was not from God and they were all killed
in battle, Jahaziel will be the chief culprit
Jehoshaphat will be blamed but so will the one who gave the message
In the book of 1 Samuel 5, the Ark of Covenant was religiously taken
into battle by the sons of Eli (Without Divine Instruction) and it
was subsequently captured by the philistines
You can be a Christian in captivity because you preach a gospel
whose spirit you are a stranger to
You can at the same time be the kind of Christian whose word will set
the captives free because you are walking in the spirit of the gospel
It is the Spirit that gives life, the flesh profits nothing
There are many who preach and live the gospel in the flesh, their
results are woeful and unworthy of Christ
The victory of the believer was gained first in the spirit and
translated into a lifestyle in our realities
Are you a Jahaziel? Or a Hophni and Phineas?
A Levite filled with the Spirit of God or A priest filled with the
Spirit of religion and vanity
2 Chronicles 20
Jehoshaphat Defeats Moab and Ammon
20 After this, the Moabites and Ammonites with some of the Meunites[a]
came to wage war against Jehoshaphat.
2 Some people came and told Jehoshaphat, “A vast army is coming against
you from Edom,[b] from the other side of the Dead Sea. It is already in
Hazezon Tamar” (that is, En Gedi). 3 Alarmed, Jehoshaphat resolved to
inquire of the Lord, and he proclaimed a fast for all Judah.
4 The people of Judah came together to seek help from the Lord; indeed,
they came from every town in Judah to seek him.
5 Then Jehoshaphat stood up in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem at
the temple of the Lord in the front of the new courtyard 6 and said:
“Lord, the God of our ancestors, are you not the God who is in heaven?
You rule over all the kingdoms of the nations. Power and might are in
your hand, and no one can withstand you. 7 Our God, did you not drive
out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel and give it
forever to the descendants of Abraham your friend? 8 They have lived
in it and have built in it a sanctuary for your Name, saying,
9 ‘If calamity comes upon us, whether the sword of judgment, or
plague or famine, we will stand in your presence before this temple
that bears your Name and will cry out to you in our distress, and
you will hear us and save us.’
10 “But now here are men from Ammon, Moab and Mount Seir, whose
territory you would not allow Israel to invade when they came from
Egypt; so they turned away from them and did not destroy them.
11 See how they are repaying us by coming to drive us out of the
possession you gave us as an inheritance. 12 Our God, will you not
judge them? For we have no power to face this vast army that is
attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.”
13 All the men of Judah, with their wives and children and little
ones, stood there before the Lord.
14 Then the Spirit of the Lord came on Jahaziel son of Zechariah,
the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a
Levite and descendant of Asaph, as he stood in the assembly.
15 He said: “Listen, King Jehoshaphat and all who live in Judah
and Jerusalem! This is what the Lord says to you: ‘Do not be afraid
or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours,
but God’s. 16 Tomorrow march down against them. They will be climbing
up by the Pass of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the gorge
in the Desert of Jeruel. 17 You will not have to fight this battle.
Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord
will give you, Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be
discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the Lord will be
with you.’”
18 Jehoshaphat bowed down with his face to the ground, and all the
people of Judah and Jerusalem fell down in worship before the Lord.
19 Then some Levites from the Kohathites and Korahites stood up and
praised the Lord, the God of Israel, with a very loud voice.
20 Early in the morning they left for the Desert of Tekoa. As they
set out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Listen to me, Judah and people
of Jerusalem! Have faith in the Lord your God and you will be upheld;
have faith in his prophets and you will be successful.”
21 After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to
the Lord and to praise Him for the splendor of his[c] holiness as
they went out at the head of the army, saying:
“Give thanks to the Lord,
for his love endures forever.”
22 As they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against the
men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they
were defeated. 23 The Ammonites and Moabites rose up against the men
from Mount Seir to destroy and annihilate them. After they finished
slaughtering the men from Seir, they helped to destroy one another.
24 When the men of Judah came to the place that overlooks the desert
and looked toward the vast army, they saw only dead bodies lying on
the ground; no one had escaped. 25 So Jehoshaphat and his men went
to carry off their plunder, and they found among them a great amount
of equipment and clothing[d] and also articles of value—more than
they could take away. There was so much plunder that it took three
days to collect it.
26 On the fourth day they assembled in the Valley of Berakah, where
they praised the Lord. This is why it is called the Valley of
Berakah[e] to this day.
27 Then, led by Jehoshaphat, all the men of Judah and Jerusalem returned
joyfully to Jerusalem, for the Lord had given them cause to rejoice over
their enemies. 28 They entered Jerusalem and went to the temple of the
Lord with harps and lyres and trumpets.
29 The fear of God came on all the surrounding kingdoms when they heard
how the Lord had fought against the enemies of Israel.
30 And the kingdom of Jehoshaphat was at peace, for his God had given
him rest on every side.
The lady whose story I opened this teaching with is a mother of three
as we speak
Her parents are both ministers of gospel somewhere in Lagos, Nigeria
Her older brother got better in 2017 and now works with a printing
press in Asaba
Her older sister, the one that was married to an unbeliever suddenly
came to her senses, she returned to Lagos and got married to her own
husband in 2018
Her younger sister, the pregnant one delivered a set of twins, the
children are with her parents as she is currently studying for her
masters in the UK
This sister of mine is happily married with a son
Guess what the name of the young man is….
Berachah!
In Christ, we were ushered into the valley of Berachah
He is the blessed one and in Him, we are all blessed
The reality of pain and sorrow and woe and troubles and pestilence
and war ended on the cross
You must leave that reality behind, otherwise, you will be like the
sons of Eli, claiming to represent a God with whom they had no
relationship
I affirm that in Christ is my perfection. I have been ushered into
His blessings by goodness and mercy
The Lord has brought to my life a wholeness and completeness that is
forever, nothing can be added to it, nor anything taken from it.
God has made all grace, every favour and earthly blessing come to me
in abundance, so that I may always and under all circumstances and
whatever the need be self-sufficient possessing enough to require
no aid or support, and furnished in abundance for every good work
and charitable donation.
I speak as an oracle of God and guide the sons into the light of
their saviour.
I was lit up to light up others and draw them into the reality
of the manifold blessings of God for their lives
The gospel that i preach is a spiritual reality that leads to
transformation, i do not know the gospel mentally or agree with
it logically
I am vitally and legally living out the gospel in my life every day
The sun, the moon, the stars and every element of this life
yields to my dominion and rulership in Christ
I am from above and therefore I am above all
I am the evidence of the reality of heaven on earth
I am blessed to be a blessing. Hallelujah!
