WAIT!
(Job 14:14)

Joseph was sold into slavery by
his brothers.
He was a privileged child, the favorite
of his father.
But at 17 years of age, he became a slave.
He ended up in Egypt, in the home of
Potiphar, the Chief of Staff to Pharaoh
the King.
His tasks as a slave were given him,
he did them all to the best of his ability.
Pharaoh noticed his industry and
appointed him Head Slave over his home.
But success always brings temptation:
it came to Joseph from Mrs. Potiphar.
“Come sleep with me”, she tempted.
She held his jacket.
He took if off and ran.
She lied against him and got him
arrested. ‘
He was jailed.
In the prison, he was still very
industrious and with time, the Jailor
appointed him Head Prisoner.
He had some respite.
But he remained a prisoner.
A week.
2 weeks.
A month.
6 months.
A year….
Now, the scriptures say in Genesis
41:1: “After 2 full years, Pharaoh dreamed…”
Joseph was in prison for 2 years
before his break showed forth.
And I wonder, WHY?
This was an innocent man who was
sold as a slave by his own brothers,
who was jailed because he refused
the advances of his master’s wife.
He did no wrong, but he suffered
because of the wickedness of men.
And God let him stew in jail for 2 years!
Why not a week?
Why not 2?
Okay, a month?
Come on!
2 FULL years!
You’d think the “FULL” was added
to rub it in.
Now, what was Joseph doing for
these 2 full years?
Waiting.
Just waiting.
Waiting can be HARD.
Especially when you have no idea
for how long…
But that is what the scriptures
recommend: WAIT!
Job 14:14 says, “…All the days of my
appointed time will I WAIT, till my
change come.”
I love the NKJV version: “…All the days
of my HARD SERVICE I will wait, Till
my change comes.”
The ASV says, “…All the days of my
WARFARE would I wait, Till my
release should come.”
Joseph was waiting, despite the hard
service, despite the injustice.
He hung in there until CHANGE came.
He was elevate beyond his wildest
dreams.
He did not have any godfather, he did
not have any connection. But he had
SOMETHING money, power, prestige,
influence or affluence could not
buy: The Spirit of God.
“There is a Spirit in man”, scripture
says; “and the inspiration of the
Almighty gives him
UNDERSTANDING” -Job 32:8.
Joseph had an understanding of dreams.
He had the ability to interpret them.
He interpreted Pharaoh’s dreams and
he was lifted.
He was 30 when his change came.
13 years.
13 YEARS!
God never forgets His people.
We just need to learn to wait on Him.
For how long, you may ask.
I have no idea. Nobody knows, really.
Jesus said, “It is not for you to know
the times or dates the Father has set
by his own authority” -Acts 1:7.
His job is to fix the time and date,
You job is to WAIT.
Waiting is the DISCIPLINE you
learn as a Christian.
Abraham waited 25 years for Isaac.
He had no idea it would be that long,
but he waited it out.

“Hast thou not known? hast thou not
heard, that the everlasting God, the
LORD, the Creator of the ends of the
earth, fainteth not, neither is weary?
there is no searching of his understanding.
He giveth power to the faint; and to
them that have no might he increaseth
strength.
Even the youths shall faint and be weary,
and the young men shall utterly fall:
But they that WAIT upon the LORD shall
renew their strength; they shall mount
up with wings as eagles; they shall run,
and not be weary; and they shall walk,
and not faint.” -Isaiah 40:28-31.

Wait for it.
Wait for change.
It may take time, but WAIT, people!

“For the vision is yet for an appointed
time, but at the end it shall speak, and
not lie: though it tarry, WAIT FOR IT;
because it will surely come, it will
not tarry” -Habakkuk 2:3.
